View Article  Best Practices for RSS Advertising -- Pheedo
Pheedo is company I've admired from day one and Bill Flitter is someone I highly respect not only because of the work he is doing at Pheedo but also Bill has shown a true understanding of RSS and blogosphere. Bill has taking taken the time on a few previous occasions to stop by my blogs and give a simple thank you for linking to him. This was when this blog and a previous one were just starting up and barely had any links or citations.

Bill has even taken the time to provide me with some wisdom and advice when I've emailed him privately about a post he made. Great guy. Great company. Pheedo is an established authority whose pioneering work in RSS advertising has provided us with some of the best knowledge of this new medium through case ...   more »
View Article  Create Podcast Success - Podscope.com and other Podcast finds for Today
Okay, so I'm checking my FeedDemon RSS updates (the best RSS Reader on planet earth...actually I do have a few secondary favorites but FeedDemon is my favorite) and I happen upon a find from Scripting News about a new and innovative search engine for Podcasts called Podscope.

New Podcast Search Engine
Podscope is very unique and bleeding edge in that they are the first search engine that actually allows you to search for spoken words within any audio or video file. Er...that would mean that you would want to mention your keywords specifically within your audio and video stream for search optimization? Hmmmm...

You can read more about Podscope on their blog and FAQ pages. But make sure you go to Podscope and give it a try. You can submit your audio and video URLs here. Podscope just ...   more »
View Article  RSS Software Review - RSS AutoPublisher
What is RSS AutoPublisher?

RSS Autopublisher is a autoresponder system that enables you to broadcast messages and deliver scheduled follow-up messages to your subscribers via RSS.

RSS Autopublisher provides you with the traditional autoresponder functionality with the benefits of RSS.

I think the benefits here are huge for publishers and especially those who publish newsletters by e-mail on a regular basis. The biggest challenge right now with e-mail is with spam and delivery rates. The value for you as a publisher is that you can now provide content to your audience that is 100% deliverable.

The Case for RSS instead of and E-mail
RSS is not e-mail so you don't have to worry about spam filters blocking your messages. RSS Autopublisher delivers your content as and RSS feed. This means that you have deliver your content directly to anyone ...   more »
View Article  FeedDemon v 1.5 RSS Reader Reviewed
FeedDemon is an RSS reader and RSS aggregator for microsoft windows.

I've been a user of FeedDemon for quite awhile now. There are many RSS readers on the market and most of them are free and for free software several of them in my opinion do their jobs well. FeeDemon is a bit more special however. FeedDemon is not a free RSS reader. It will cost you $29.95 to own but it is worth every single penny.

For those of you who don't know, FeedDemon is created by Nick BradBury of Bradbury Software. Nick was responsible for the HTML editor Homesite that I was also a big fan of way back earlier days of the Internet when the race was on for HTML publishing tools and editors. Nick had great success with Homes as it was bought by Allaire which ...   more »

View Article  Submit Your RSS Feed To MSN Search Via XML-RPC
Robin Good reports on how to submit your RSS feed to MSN Search. Very good article and must read for all blog and RSS publishers alike.

Microsoft went live with the New MSN Search this past week.

Google provides the lions share of search engine traffic to this blog but my Daily Success Motivation and Positive Thinking blog has seen an explosion of traffic from MSN for top keywords since the new MSN Search went officially live last week. Google was the primary source of search traffic for that blog but now it's almost 50/50 between MSN and Google. The good thing is that my results in MSN are much, much better than what they were before.

Check out this article by Robin Good. He discusses the relationship the New MSN Search has with Moreover for getting your content and ...   more »
View Article  Ultimate RSS Marketing by Rok Hrastnik
On January 18th, 2004 Rok Hrastnik released what I consider to be the best book on RSS to hit the planet.

I'm know I'm bit late on publishing my buzz but I wanted to seek my teeth into all the good stuff first. :) Man, I was not disappointed one bit. This is great stuff!

Rok has done a fantastic job of capturing the state of RSS and how RSS is trending up in use and application. What is so phenomenal is the sheer volume of information that is both easy to follow, easy to understand and practical to apply. This piece of work doesn't just tell you what RSS feeds are it completely explores the whole paradigm-shift to distributed Internet content publishing and the changes that are influencing the increased usage of RSS feed for marketing.

Rok Hrastnik has ...   more »

15 Ways To Read An RSS Feed - Guest Article

Copyright 2004 Steve Shaw

No doubt you have seen those small orange 'XML' or 'RSS' buttons beginning to spread across some of your favourite web sites.

Perhaps you have clicked on one out of curiosity, only to be faced
with a barrage of angle brackets and undecipherable code, seemingly
designed to scare the heck out of anyone less than familiar with the
intricacies of this new fangled technology creeping across the web.

But once you click on that button - what do you do then? This
article will show you exactly what to do. RSS? It's actually Really
Simple, Stupid.

The first thing to do of course is click that button. It may be an
orange button with 'XML' or 'RSS' written across it; or you could see

View Article  Reviewed FireFox with RSS

Firefox from Mozilla has a preview release of their browser with support for RSS.

I was preparing to write my a review for you here on my opinion of the this new feature however...

I will point you to a review that hits close to what my reaction was.

Now I didn't really approach Firefox from such a technical point of view although I'm a very technical person. In terms of the internals behind how they implemented it, there apprears to be some issues.

I will say that I was annoyed but the inconsistent behavior of their "auto discovery" feature for RSS on pages you visit.

They call their RSS feed support in Firefox, Live Bookmarks.

I will say this, this is definitely a good start for Firefox. Perhaps they wanted to release this current iteration of RSS feed support, ...   more »
