Yahoo revealed at the Web 2.0 conference this week that they plan to offer RSS advertising.
Using their Overture pay-per-click contextual ad services, Yahoo plans to extend it's sponsored link services to RSS feeds.
As Yahoo makes good on its plans for RSS advertising services, it will be interesting to see what moves Google will make towards RSS ads with Google Adwords.
Yahoo recently overhauled their My Yahoo services with significant RSS feed support.
The big pay-per-click ad networks like Yahoo's Overture and Google's Adwords will be major influences for establishing the legitimacy and viability of RSS ads in feeds. They will also be instrumental and laying out workable models for such services as RSS ad networks are still nascent ventures.
