That was Steve Ballmer, CEO of Microsoft Corp. as quoted in the Detroit Free Press.

He goes on to say...

"It brings together the three biggest Internet trends: communicating, sharing and socializing. It started with e-mail and instant messaging and music sharing, and it's getting bigger each day."

Ballmer apparently made it clear to the reporter that Microsoft has big new designes on the Net. With Microsoft's launch of MSN Space one cannot help but feel "ho hum" more imitation and less innovation. *sigh*

But hey I like Microsoft (and Linux, and Unix...and...) and if we harken back to the day when Microsoft finally discovered the Internet, computing as we knew it was changed yet again in a significant way. Just yesterday I posted about Miscrosoft's plans for it's own blog hosting software service.

In an eWeek article we now have some additional details and it looks like it's going to be interesting.

According to eWeek, Microsoft began rolling out its MSN Spaces blog hosting software service late Wednesday via their Internet Division. The plan to tie MSN Messenger IM service and Hotmail e-mail service.

It seems the plan to make it very easy for users to create media rich blogs with easy upload of photos, audio and video playlists from Windows Media Player. They also plan to offer what looks to be a social bookmark feature that allows users to create custom lists of favorites.
