Visibility, Distribution and Reach
If you haven't acquainted yourself with the practice of RSS submissions here's a quick run down of why RSS submission is important.
Distribution. RSS allows you to distribute your message across multiple content sources allowing you to publish your content and deliver it to multiple targets from a single point. When you update your RSS feed your content is eventually refreshed in these multiple content sources or pools as your RSS feed is scanned and seached by these content pools for the latest updates. These RSS directores respond to ping update notifications when your blog pings its updates and some of these directories simply visit your blog at regular intervals to check for fresh updates. This is powerful distribution. The result is that you are streaming and distributing your content across multiple content sources that themselves are delivering and disributing your content to targeted visitors. This is great leverage for your content. Your RSS feed contain your content and links so when you distribute your RSS feed through RSS submission, visitors are driven back to your blog as they click through your feed content that is delivered to them in directory listings and search results. That means MORE TRAFFIC GROWTH. Can your web site do that? Blogs rule.
Visibility. RSS is a content subscription and distribution mechanism that increases visibility for your message because RSS content is discoverable, searchable and frequently updated. RSS directories and search engines are ponds information where many go to fish for news and information. By obtaining inclusion into as many RSS directories as you can, you are effectually creating greater visibility for your message and raising your profile much more effectively then you could ever do by just hoping someone visits your blog and decides to subscribe to your RSS feed. RSS directories are targeted by hundreds and thousands of visitors looking for content to subscribe to and syndicate. By submitting your feed to RSS directories you are able to get your content in front of a huge number of potential prospects. You are no longer tethered to the random find of someone surfing the net nor are strictly tied to that all important search engine traffic.
Reach. RSS submissions allow you to market beyond the home page. Plain and simple. RSS submission allows you to distribute your content to multiple content sources that generate traffic and visitors to your blog. As a result you get greater visibility and exposure for you and your message. RSS simply allows you to reach more people, more effectively. Again, you are able to reach far beyone the home page. RSS makes your content highly discoverable. As your RSS feeds are submitted to RSS directories the reach of our message multiplies with no more effort than it took to push the power button to power up your PC.
RSS Submit IS the Best Tool Yet for RSS
Without RSS submissions getting traffic and getting exposure for your content and blog will be very slow going. It seems that there are tons of directories to submit too and the list just keeps growing. Attempting to submit to them manually will be time consuming and tedious. How many directories should you really submit to? You should submit to as many as your time allows you to submit but you shouldn't spend too much time worrying about trying to submit to them all. I've only ever submitted to a handful of about 20 or so directories because RSS submission is a very tedious and time consuming process. Frankly I think it sucks. That is, the process sucks. Nothing wrong with submitting in and of itself and it is NOT a necessary evil. It is a Godsend actually. Never before have we been able to promote content so fast and so far with so little effort (with a good tool of course) and time. It's just that once you fill out a submission form and copy and paste that RSS feed URL a few times you are going to want to scream "there's got to be a better way!". There is.
Enter RSS Submit There are many tools for submitting RSS feeds. I haven't seen one yet that is as satisfying as RSS Submit. RSS Submit has the best combination of features that allow you to just get the job done in very little time. It's almost push button RSS marketing and promotion. If you are NOT using this tool then either you haven't fully realized the importance of RSS submission, you haven't manually submitted to a large number of directories or you just simply have not tried RSS Submit for your submission needs.
Read my first review of RSS Submit here. Now Ksoft has release a update and RSS Submit SEO Expansion Pack plug in. The update has now added more RSS directories to submit to so now there are over 60 directories instead of 50 directories.
The SEO Expansion pack is fantastic in my opinion. It adds 3 new features to RSS Submit. They have now added metapinging with the Ping-O-Matic plug-in. They added a Reporting component that allows to you keep historical records of your RSS submissions and dates. They've also added a Import/Export component for importing and exporting lists of RSS urls.
Having a desktop client for PingOmatic is like have and desktop blog editor. It just plain makes things more efficient. And that is what RSS Submit is all about. I really like what I'm seeing here. The developers seem to be very serious about becoming the tool of choice in this area. They seem to also recognize the consultation skill set that is emerging in this area as well. The SEO expansion pack is definitely beneficial to any consultant handling the RSS marketing and promotion tasks for multiple clients. The new Reporting and Import/Export features allow you to easily track your activity and manage long lists. This is also a welcome feature for individuals as well.
This is the only submission tool I ever use now. I know I cannot sumbit to every single directory and sure there is potential traffic and exposure I'm may miss out on. In keeping with being reasonable and balanced, if a directory isn't in RSS Submit then it's a miss for me. I cannot chase down every directory and not all directories are created equal. I do keep my eye out for significant directories however and RSS Submit includes all of the most significant ones for me plus plenty more.
Once again, I have to highly recommend this tool with the updates and expansion pack. You'd be crazy not to have this tool in your arsenal. RSS Submit version 1.10 with the SEO Expansion Pack is the tool to beat in my opinion. These guys definitely have a good start and a good tool. Show them some love and get your copy. It's one of the best things you can do for your blog and RSS marketing efforts.
